LUMA · INTO THE BLUE

Privacy policy

Updated: 12 September 2026

This policy covers the LUMA — Into the Blue iPhone app and luma.mknak.de. Advertising in the app and visits to this website are separate activities.

Information kept on your iPhone

LUMA stores your best score and settings, such as language and sound, on your device. Gameplay runs locally. The developer operates no user account service or game-save server. Optional online leaderboards and achievements are provided through Apple Game Center. The app does not report your scores to the developer or Google. If you enable device backups, app data may be included under your Apple settings and terms.

The local game does not require access to your contacts, photos, microphone or precise device location. It includes no developer-operated analytics tools or in-app purchases. The advertising services described below may process their own interaction and diagnostic data.

Optional Game Center leaderboards and achievements

Game Center is a service provided by Apple. You can play LUMA without signing in to Game Center. If you are signed in when a run starts and the same account remains signed in until it ends, LUMA submits new best scores to Apple for the Easy, Medium or Hard leaderboard. The score and the relevant leaderboard are transmitted; Apple associates the result with your Game Center profile. Training runs count in full toward Easy, including early endings and runs in which training is skipped. Guest runs and previous local records are not uploaded later.

LUMA also displays eleven achievements and your progress toward them. For Game Center players, the app sends each achievement's identifier and completion percentage to Apple; this determines whether the achievement is unlocked. Apple associates this information with your Game Center profile. An achievement identifier refers to a particular award, not an additional user. Reporting and restoration use the corresponding Game Center account. Guest progress remains separate on your device and is not imported into an account when you sign in later.

To display achievements, LUMA stores relevant best scores, the cumulative number of obstacle openings passed up to the achievement threshold of 1,000, achievement progress and unlock status locally, separately for guests and individual accounts. Signed-in accounts also retain confirmed progress reports. Local identifiers for processed runs prevent counting the same result twice. This information supports display, continued progress and retries of unconfirmed reports. Restoration keeps the higher available progress; progress earned simultaneously offline on separate devices is not fully added together. Like other local Game Center records, this information remains until the app's data is deleted and may be included in a device backup.

Your Game Center nickname, avatar and scores are visible to other Game Center users in global leaderboards. Information about your achievements may be visible to others according to your Game Center sharing settings. Your settings for sharing other game activity do not change this visibility in global leaderboards. LUMA does not request your friends list or store nicknames or avatars itself.

To associate results with the correct account and retry failed submissions, LUMA stores a game-specific player identifier and the highest pending and highest confirmed score for each account and difficulty locally on your device. A pending result is resubmitted only when the same account is signed in. After a successful submission, the corresponding pending result is removed; the player identifier and confirmed best score remain stored locally to avoid unnecessary repeat submissions. This local data remains until the app's data is deleted; a device backup may include and restore it. Signing out of Game Center alone does not delete it.

LUMA does not share the Game Center player identifier, submitted scores or achievement progress with our advertising providers. The leaderboard and achievement features do not require ATT tracking permission; advertising consent and tracking choices are managed separately.

Manage your profile, sharing of other game activity and sign-in in iOS Game Center settings. Deleting LUMA does not automatically remove scores, achievement progress or profile data already stored by Apple. Apple processes data for its own Game Center service under its privacy notices, which also explain retention and your rights. See Apple: Game Center & Privacy and Apple's Privacy Policy.

Advertising between rounds

LUMA is prepared to display Google AdMob interstitial ads after completed rounds. Ads are requested only when the necessary privacy conditions are met. The game remains available if no ad is ready. Prerelease builds may have advertising disabled or show Google test ads; test-ad requests can also send data to Google.

When advertising services are active, data may include an IP address and approximate region inferred from it, device or app identifiers, ad impressions and interactions, and crash and performance information. This supports ad delivery, measurement, fraud prevention and reliability. Where permitted, data may be combined with information from other apps or websites for personalized ads. Google: iOS SDK data disclosure

Google and the providers identified in the applicable consent message receive data processed for their advertising services. For details and current Google contact information, see Google's privacy policy and its information about partner apps.

Consent and tracking

The app uses Google's User Messaging Platform to request required advertising consent and respect your selection. Technical information needed to retrieve and store your privacy choices is processed for this purpose. A privacy message may appear depending on your region and previous choices.

iOS separately requests permission through App Tracking Transparency (ATT) before activity is tracked across other companies' apps and websites or Apple's advertising identifier, IDFA, is accessed. Personalized advertising involving this tracking requires both the applicable advertising consent and ATT permission. Consent is optional. Refusing does not lock the game or its features. Apple: user privacy and tracking

If tracking permission is absent, non-personalized or limited ads may be available where their requirements are satisfied. These ads can still require technical data for delivery or fraud prevention. Refusing personalization does not necessarily stop every form of data processing. Google: non-personalized ads, limited ads

Change your choices

You can revisit advertising choices through “Privacy & help” in LUMA where the service provides this option for your region, and withdraw consent for future processing. Manage iOS tracking permission under Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking. Website preferences do not replace either of these choices.

Deleting the app removes its local LUMA data. Offloading an app keeps its data, and restoring a device backup may restore it. Google provides separate controls for data it holds; uninstalling LUMA does not automatically delete data already held by Google.
